„Teamwork is a secret that multiples success“
Dialogue with Volkswagen de México
abat and Volkswagen de México are working together on Automating High Value Operative Processes through Robotics Process Automation (RPA) Technology.
In 2021, Volkswagen de México and abat initiated the creation of logic robots (bots) that release administrative, logistic and production teams from manual repetitive activities within its processes.
After having 10 bots in production and being working on a list of 25 out of a more than 100 processes candidates, we talked with Jaime Eduardo Nava Rodriguez Chief Officer Information and Víctor Manuel Brauer Fernández, RPA’s Project Manager about the experience.
abat:
Why have you decided to start using Robotics Process Automation at Volkswagen México?
Volkswagen de México:
It is very important to promote Digital Transformation and we saw a great opportunity. Many repetitive processes with high volume of transactions have been identified in different business areas of the company, which if automated, would free up considerable working hours of our employees to bring greater efficiency to their activities and add value to their work.
We want to change the way we work through the support of digital agents, and this has brought different benefits, both quantitative and qualitative.
Our goal is ambitious, as our project pipeline has grown over the last 2 years. We have grown our infrastructure as the demand has increased.
abat:
Do you believe it is important the implementation of low code platforms in the automotive industry?
Volkswagen de México:
It is very important to promote Digital Transformation and we saw a great opportunity. Many repetitive processes with high volume of transactions have been identified in different business areas of the company, which if automated, would free up considerable working hours of our employees to bring greater efficiency to their activities and add value to their work.
abat:
How relevant is the use of RPA‘s in terms of innovation?
Volkswagen de México:
We know that process automation is a topic that began to emerge years ago but in recent years has had a greater boom and the need for companies to innovate and transform to be competitive continues to grow.
We must give our employees the tools to have room for creativity and to devote their time to activities that add value to the company.
abat:
What has been the experience of working with abat for the development of RPA‘s?
Volkswagen de México:
It has been a very fruitful partnership as abat has accompanied us during the development and growth of our RPA implementation strategy. We have faced different types of challenges and we have seen the results of good teamwork.
abat:
Talking about the perception of RPA within your company. How have the different teams welcome their new virtual „colleagues“?
Volkswagen de México:
In recent years, we have been working on change management for VWM employees in order welcome disruptive technologies to which we are not used to.
Since the RPA strategy is very important for us, we try to do activities such as Botathons or continuous talks about the benefits of RPAs. We have had a very positive response to this, and we need to work hard to meet the demand for initiatives that are coming to us.
abat:
Do you have any further comments that you want to share with us related to the RPA technology used in the automotive industry?
Volkswagen de México:
That RPA‘s is not a technology for start-ups or technology companies, on the contrary we have many areas of opportunity to explore where the digital workforce could be of great help; so, we must broaden our technological landscape and welcome this type of tools.
Thanks Eduardo Nava, Victor Brauer and all the Volkswagen team for its time, collaboration, and trust.
We are sure, this is one more milestone within our long-term innovation partnership.
