Geographical requirements appear very frequently in the SAP context. Freight cost accounting, transportation planning and execution, master data - all require simple or complex geographic functionality.
A task as simple as address verification or as complex as distance determination in transportation planning and map display of the result, all these functionalities can currently only be delivered by external providers, as SAP does not provide data for this itself. SAP Transportation Management is also dependent on external GIS providers.
PTV xServer provides this functionality and improves the accuracy of the geographic functions mentioned above. PTV xServer Business Connector for SAP brings both together, saving time, money and nerves. With PTV xServer Business Connector for SAP, you can provide geocoding, routing, mapping and address verification in your system without any integration effort. Your ABAP developers can then use these functionalities in their own programs via an easy-to-use framework.
The Use Cases
Address verification:
Verification of individual addresses, address lists, POI or free text lists via PTV xServer to ensure that your master data is correct.
Distance calculation:
Calculate distances and travel times between two or more locations including consideration of individual waypoints with optional avoidance of ferries or toll roads.
Complex route calculation:
Calculate routes between two or more locations including consideration of individual options provided by PTV xServer.
Display objects on a map:
View objects on a map, represent relationships, and interact with objects on the map. Based on SAP Visual Business.
The Development Kit (SDK)
An SAP system requires a technical connection to PTV xServer in order to use the GIS services. The Development Kit Routing provides all functionalities and options of the PTV xLocate, PTV xRoute and PTV xMap methods as well as the communication to PTV xServer. No manual import of the WSDL file is required.
With knowledge of the PTV xServer API, your developers have direct and full access to PTV xServer communication. With the Development Kit Planning, you also get access to the functionalities of PTV xTour to exploit optimization potentials in route planning.
